Mr Ken Merson

Born in Scotland, with more than 20 years successful experience mainly in the Semiconductor, Oil & Gas manufacture and Chemical industries.

Has developed his career with many senior roles including Managing Director, Global Business Development and Procurement Strategist.

Early in his career, became the youngest UK Regional Sales Manager for an International Valve & Fitting manufacturer and after progressing to senior management, left to take the position of Sales Director for a UHP Gas Systems design, manufacture and installation company. Assisted in the development of this company’s industry reputation for quality and technical experience, plus export activity.

Appointed as UK Managing Director by a major American manufacturer of pressure regulators to establish and develop their first European company, profitability was achieved within 6 months.

Latest part of his career has been with the leading international  gas company, joining as technical sales director for its UK branch and soon progressed to Managing Director, taking the subsidiary from £10,000 to £10 million in 4 years. Cruised across several senior management roles within the group covering global business development and procurement functions at corporate level throughout Europe, Asia and North America. Total responsibility for double digit cost reduction program for equipment procurement.

An entrepreneur at heart, with excellent cross-culture communication skills. Inter-personal skills allow him to work effectively with personnel at all levels, shop floor to boardroom. Exposure to high level Chinese government officials was gained through work experience in China. Strong credential in developing small companies at an aggressive pace. A provider of creative solutions and result driven. Has extensive international experience especially in Asia, US and France.

Mr Merson is married. He speaks fluent English and French. A keen Golfer with handicap of 12, he participates regularly in competitions.

Mrs Shan You 

From Shanghai, China

Gained bachelor engineer with distinction in Chemical Engineering from Shanghai JiaoTong University (one of top Universities in China) was Vice President of Student Union in University.

MBA graduate from top European business school HEC School of Management in Paris, and the only HEC Chinese graduate from the prestigious program HEC Entrepreneurs with high appraisal from the dean (“Mention Excellente”) and the jury (final jury led by French Chancelor Nicolas Sarkozy). During the study, awarded on two occasions the French government scolarship “Bourse Eiffel” for academic excellence.

Career started with French industrial blue-chip Air Liquide in China as an application engineer, and soon promoted to management level.

During HEC Entrepreneurs program, worked in an internship as CEO’s strategist for the oldest financial journal L’Agefi in France. Worked side by side with the CEO and CFO to develop an elaborated business plan for the company’s strategic initiative. After business school, worked for Accenture Paris office as a consultant and senior manager later, in the strategy and business architecture division. Hands-on experience on large global accounts such as Gillette, Total, Suez, Sara Lee, Aventis, Lilly.

Specialty area is in value creation strategies, business mapping, pricing methodology, business portfolio optimisation, branding and marketing, mergers & acquisitions, cross-culture business development and modelling.

Mrs Shan You speaks fluent Chinese, English and French. A qualified sky-diver, she played violin for 20 years. With an interest in finance, she is in the process of becoming a qualified CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst).
